There are several discernable data types in most organizations, including user files (so-called "unstructured data"), email, databases, and in some cases fixed-content (the output of document management or electronic content management systems), video, and images. Many archive products are keyed to the special requirements of one or more of these specific data types. The AMO Guide to Archive Techniques provides links to vendor supplied documents and trade press coverage of data archiving techniques -- sorted by data type, and in some cases, by vertical industry usage.
